Very impressed so far…,
It’s early days having just received it, but I’m very impressed with the torque, apparent build-quality & compactness of this great little drill from Bosch’s ‘professional’ blue range.
When you also consider it comes with two lithium-ion batteries (which are VERY expensive on their own!), it represents great value for money compared to the cheaper PSR-model green ‘DIY’ version of this drill, which is about £30 cheaper but only comes with one battery. ([]which was cheaper than most prices here on Amazon, so keep an eye on the price before ordering here.)
One handy thing my package also included was a little fabric belt holster, which is not mentioned here on the Amazon listing.
Another point to note is that the blue ‘Pro’ range has a 3 year guarantee as opposed to the green DIY’s 2 years, & whenever I’ve contacted Bosch for a warranty claim for other gear, they’ve been helpful & quick to sort out the repair or replacement.
Bosch UK told me that this pro blue series also has more sturdy internals compared to the DIY green series that I’ve previously owned (which was a Swiss-built 7.2v Bosch driver (with NiCad batteries) that’s lasted well for years (the only failing being the batteries in the end), so it’ll be interesting to see how long this new drill – built in Malaysia – actually lasts. Hopefully, though, all that matters is that Bosch have (again hopefully!) specified decent components…
The only slight negatives I have so far is the operation of the built-in work-light, & the ‘L-Boxx’ storage box:
The light is a great idea but poorly executed compared to my friend’s Makita drill. The problem is that the most useful time you need the light is to line up BEFORE you start the actual drilling or screwing. The Bosch’s light comes on when you pull the trigger (to be expected), BUT it goes out as soon as you release, so you can’t use the light for line-up without the chuck turning (which isn’t ideal). On my friend’s Makita however, you can give the trigger a quick pull/release, then the light stays on for a few seconds for you to line up before starting work, which makes a lot more sense. To be fair, there’s a tiny bit of play in the Bosch’s trigger where I can engage the light without the chuck turning if I’m careful, but it’s such a small tolerance that to do so is very difficult, especially if holding the drill in an awkward space. Anyway, it’s not a deal-breaker, but something worth considering if working in dark, confined spaces a lot as it could become a bit frustrating.
Regarding the ‘L-Boxx’ case: it’s HUGE! It’s a least twice the size needed for the included components (so it can accommodate other, larger equipment in the range that the box might come with). Bosch state it stacks & interlocks with other L-Boxx’s etc etc (all very well until you need to get in to one of the lower cases!), but I would have personally preferred a smaller, custom-fit case as there’s only a finite amount of space in my shed…. The one advantage is there’s extra space to put all my drill bits in the one box, but if history repeats itself, the box will be relegated to the loft once the drill ends up in my tool-bag.
To summarise, I’d say four stars out of five ‘out of the box’ as it were, but the most important thing will be longevity which I’ll only discover over time. Certainly feels like a quality piece of kit though, & definitely worthy of consideration.

|Super Bosch drill,
Amazing power in such a small drill. I could not believe that the tiny batteries would deliver so much power for so long. They also recharge quickly.
